In 1978 the 631 BOBCAT scale model was born.
Its "new breed" design gave this model a distinctly different look from its predecessors.

The 631 was produced by another West German company: Gamma.
The lift arms carried the familiar "cat head" BOBCAT logo.
On the back upright was now a green patch with the CLARK logo above it.
Unlike it two predecessors the 631 had no removable parts.

This model had a production flaw : the diameter of the cylinder rods was to large for the cylinder housing, this caused the lift cylinders to split open after they had been moved a few times.
A simple solution was found : a plastic clip to snap over each cylinder.
These clips where distributed as a "field modification kit".

Bobcat 631

The 631 box had a 533 picture on it, there where plans to first produce a 533 model, but since the 533 was a les popular machine the decision was called back.
The box layout was already set and when the 631 went in production the layout was not updated.

Again scale 1/19 was selected.
